WPIAL SWIM CHAMPIONSHIP

On February 27 and 28, the Swim Team competed in the WPIAL Championship meet at the University of Pittsburgh.   The girl’s team had a strong showing at this meet besides placing outside the top ten.  The best showing for the girls was the 400 free relay of Courtnee Basista, Ashley Bronakowski, Sydney Rusak & Mary Wardle. 

The boy’s team also came up big by placing 5^thoverall, the highest in school’s history.   Leading the way for the team was Brendan Lacey with two 5^th placed swims in the 200 & 500 free, Zachary Wardle with a 6^th place swim in the 100 free, which set a new high school record, the 200 free relay placed 4^th of and the 400 free relay placed 2^nd, highest placing relay’s in school’s history.  Members of both relays are Andre Maldonado, Jay Lewis, Brendan Lacey and Zachary Wardle.  Both relays set new high school records and qualified for the state meet.
