The Belle Vernon Area High School Varsity Swim Team is coached by Mr. Rob Reda and assisted by Mr. John Kerekes. It is in AA Section 5 Division, competing against schools such as West Mifflin, Thomas Jefferson, Steel Valley, Charleroi, Elizabeth Forward, Brentwood, and the current defending Girls' Section Leader, South Park. The Swim Team has always done very well throughout their season; in March, it sent several swimmers to W.P.I.A.L (Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League) and sometimes sending a few to States at Bucknell University.

The Swim Team starts its season in late November and continues through through February, with W.P.I.A.L in early March. During most weeks throughout swim season, there are 1 or 2 meets. The 2007-2008 Swim Team is led by senior captains Jared "Jay" Lewis, Andre Maldonado, Cory Wyke, and Melanie Omasta.

The members of the swim team spend many hours together practicing. Many friendships are made on the swim team; it's not just a team, it's a family.
