AMATEUR RADIO CLUB

Sponsor: Mr. Thompson

The Amateur Radio Club meets every Wednesday from 2:30 to 3:30 in Room 108. This club is open to all students who are interested in learning how to operate their own radio and to talk to different people around the world. The Amateur Radio Club learns the rules and regulations needed to obtain a radio license and sets up a day to take the license test.  The Radio Club also competes in different competitions throughout the year and has an annual trip to Kennywood to set up a demonstration.

The Amateur Radio Club would like to congratulate Tim Luciani and Dominic Leone, who earned their General class ham radio licenses.  This is the second level of ham radio license and involves taking a difficult technical exam.  Tim and Dom now have the ability to use all the worldwide amateur radio bands for communications.

In addition, Mario Leone earned a Technician’s license, the introductory ham license, by passing that exam.  This gives Mario the ability to communicate with local hams on radio, as well as use digital radio communications.

Congratulations to all three gentlemen for their hard work in earning these radio licenses!
