Attention Book Club Members:  Our last meeting for the year will be Wednesday, May 14th. Meet in the library at 2:30. We will car pool to Rostraver Library for the meeting.   If you will be attending, please let Mrs. Vandermer or Mrs. Milinovich know by the end of school on Tuesday. We will be taking donations for refreshments.

 

THERE IS A SIGN UP SHEET FOR THE DANCE TEAM IN THE MAIN OFFICE.  STOP BY TO SIGN UP AND GET INFO.

 

If you are interested in auditioning for the BVA Majorette Squad, there are sign up sheets and Audition Packets in the school office.  Tryouts are on May 22 at 4 p.m.
 

There will be a mandatory track and field meeting on Tuesday May 13th to turn in uniforms and discuss the banquet. Please put your uniform in a plastic bag with your name on it. ALL ATHLETES MUST ATTEND.

 

ANY STUDENT INTERESTED IN TRYING OUT FOR THE GOLF TEAM, PLEASE SIGN UP IN THE MAIN OFFICE.  THE GOLF SEASON BEGINS MID AUGUST AND ENDS MID OCTOBER.  IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE CALL COACH LUSTIG.

 

SIGNUPS ARE IN THE MAIN OFFICE FOR ANYONE INTERESTED IN TRYING OUT FOR THE BVA COLORGUARD.  TRYOUTS ARE SCHEDULED FOR MAY 23RD.

Grand March Tickets will be on sale through May 13.  Auditorium seats are limited to four per couple.  The price per ticket is $5.00. 

 

DUAL ENROLLMENT SCHEDULES AND APPLICATIONS ARE AVAILABLE IN THE GUIDANCE OFFICE.   DUAL ENROLLMENT IS OFFERED AT PENN ST FAYETTE AND WCCC. Students interested ents interested in Dual Enrollment Classes should have their information submitted to the guidance office by Friday, May 23rd.

Attention Students:  There are applications available in Mrs. McCullough’s office for the volunteen program at Mon Valley Hospital.

 

Attention students:  A friendly reminder…Do NOT park in the student lot without a parking pass.  Any vehicles parked in the lot without passes displayed on the rearview window will be ticketed.

Students in Grade 10 World Culture class will be taking part in a program through St. Vincent's College "Towards No Drug."  Project Toward No Drug Abuse (TND) is a highly interactive program designed to help high school youth (14 to 19 years old) resist substance use and abuse.  A school-based program, TND, consists of twelve 40 to 50 minute lessons that include motivational activities, social skills training and decision - making components that are delivered through group discussions, games, role-playing exercise, videos, and student worksheets.

 

Math tutoring will be by request only either Monday or Wednesday in room 25B.  If you need tutoring, you need to let Mrs. Kennedy-Hall know in advance.  It is still available. Thank you.

 

To  S-A-T or to A-C-T-?   That is the question. YOU can find out the answer by attending the National Testing Day on March 8th at Carnegie Mellon University.  Princeton Review is offering a FREE practice ACT test and a strategy session to high school students.  Each student will receive a detailed score report and some ACT tips from an expert instructor.  There will also be an overview of the differences between the ACT and SAT.   Pre-register by calling 412-687-4880 or go on line to www.princetonreview.com and click on ACT under Find a free event Near You.
  

 

NEW SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

 

ATTENTION  SENIORS!!!   SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS ARE ARRIVING WEEKLY!!   VISIT THE GUIDANCE SCHOLARSHIPS SITE TO SEE A SAMPLE OF SOME OF THE SCHOLARSHIPS THAT ARE CURRENTLY BEING OFFERED.  ALSO CHECK WITH THE GUIDANCE OFFICE!!!  

 

Attention Senior Interact Club members:  A new $500 scholarship is available for Interact Club members only. Pick up applications in the Guidance Office.

 

ROSTRAVER TOWNSHIP LIONS CLUB Jared C. Giarrusso Memorial Scholarship:  Applicant must be a current year graduating senior from BVA who is a member of the BVA Marching Band, Concert Band, AV Club or Rostraver Leo Club.  The applicant must also carry at least a 3.0 GPA and have been accepted to a post secondary school of education.  Applications are available in the guidance office with a deadline of May 28, 2008.

 

RAY G. ANTHONY SCHOLARSHIP FUND:  For worthy students with a QPA of 3.0 or better, S.A.T. score of 1400 or more, leadership, volunteerism, and community involvement.  Applications are available in the guidance office and must be returned before May 30, 2008.
